Under the Covers

Hidden away under the floor of the utility area is a place seldom viewed, it houses all those systems to keep you moving and to keep you warm for your life on-board.

The main attraction in dark green is the engine, a Beta 38 horse power which drives the propeller via a PRM marine gearbox.

The engine is also the heart of the electrical systems when on the move, with 2 alternators for charging the domestic and starter motor batteries.

The energy management systems features prominently, being the large blue box on the right hand side. The Victron system used on Coates & Company narrowboats controls and co-ordinates all power requirements and usage, whether connected to a shoreline supply or when running entirely from battery, the built in inverter unit provides a continuous 240v supply to keep your essentials working even when cruising or moored without a land line supply.
